The New Seven Sisters Youth Garden in Hot Springs!
A garden on Library Drive For the education of our children and young people in all phases of Horticulture. It will foster creativity and a deeper sense of self-acheivement in the participants. It will be a place where garden related activities will be used to learn about Math, Science, Language Arts and Physical Exercise to build life skills that improve children’s development.
Seven Sisters Youth Garden’s Mission Statement
The Seven Sisters Youth Garden is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that serves children and youth by offering hands-on, interdisciplinary opportunities to explore food production and horticulture related skills. It’s purpose is to improve the lives of young people by developing creativity, encouraging pride in community and building lifelong workforce skills.
The Build Plan
- Step 1: Installation of the water lines and hydrants.
- Step 2: Grade the land. Outline contours of gardens and walkways.
- Step 3: Draft strategic plan for sustainability.
- Step 4: Installation of walkways.
- Step 5: Delivery of 50 cubic yards of top-grade topsoil spread over the garden areas.
- Step 6: Shed built and installed.
- Step 7: Pavilion/Learning Circle built.
- Step 8: Hoop House/Greenhouse erected.
- Step 9: Fence and gates installed.
- Step 10: Plants sourced & planted in garden areas.

Committees
The Committees consist of individuals committed to building the Seven Sisters Youth Garden and seeing it in operation. Below are the Committees to achieve this. These Committees are just for the build planned for 2026. Here is where you can contribute without it costing you a cent. Step 3 Committee – Site Clearing Committee
This Committee will be hand-on stewards of the land during this transformative phase. With foresight and responsibility, you will be laying the foundation for all that follows. You will be the operational liaison between the Seven Sisters Youth Garden and the contractor, aligning with the strategic plan, budget and timeliness. We are looking for a small tractor with plow and rake implements for this step.
Step 4 Committee – Layout of the Walkways
This is where the vision starts to become physically tangible on the ground. This Committee will accurately transfer the pathway designs from the plan onto the actual garden site by defining the borders and edges. You will be able to see the skeleton of the garden when completed. The SSYG will provide as much of the tools as possible.
Step 5 Committee – Delivery & Placement of Topsoil
This action team will source, coordinate delivery and spread approximately 50 cubic yards of topsoil in the designated garden areas. The topsoil placement will follow the garden’s design and be outlined by the walkways. Your work will not only move earth but also set the stage for everything that will be grown in the garden. This Committee’s Members will be the operational liaison between the SSYG and the supplier, aligning with the strategic plan, budget and timelines. SSYG will provide as much of the tools as possible.
Step 6 Comittee – Filling the Walkways
The Team on this Committee will be laying the silent stage, the walkways, upon which countless future memories are made. You will be shaping and smoothing a path of crushed stone that creates an artery to guide visitors to wander safely throughout the garden. The SSYG will supply as much of the tools as possible.
Step 7 Committee – Create Small Enclosed Garden
The effort by this Committee will make it possible to apply for funding to erect a hoop-house in 2027.One of the primary requirements for the grant is to have plants growing, thereby demonstrating sustainable garden interest, proving the need for a structure to extend the growing season. SSYG will assist with materials and tools.
Step 8 Committee – Garden Maintenance
No effort is too small in a garden and this is where we start to grow. Together, this Committee will be turning patience and care into fresh produce one seed at a time. All the time spent in this small garden will continue to have an affect on the overall garden for years to come. The garden will supply seeds and seedlings to plant, the necessary tools and the water.
